Day Eleven: The Pin Drop

While at the Great Salt Lake, we met some businessmen in from Indiana -- Purdue alumni -- who said that the Morman Tabernacle is "not to be missed" and "the tour is less than thirty minutes."  They explained that there are "tour guides waiting to take you right in and show you the acoustics of the building."  At that point, we opted to go to hear the legendary "pin drop" and run a few minutes late to our next planned stop.

As Jenna waited for the children and Rob to find a bathroom, she was approached by two young women dressed in long skirts and wearing official badges identifying them as members of the church.  They offered to show us into the Tabernacle after inquiry as to the "pin."  The women asked -- and, subsequently remembered -- the names of the children.  (Interestingly enough, the did not ask Rob or Jenna for our names; lost causes already?)

After the demonstration of the pin drop and the tearing of newspaper, the women began prosthelatizing to the children about "prophets" and "calling from god."  The children listened and reserved their comments, which Jenna could see were right on the tips of their secular tongues.
